Rules
BrandBid is a public paid leaderboard. Verified cumulative NZD totals determine the order.
The short version
How it works
- 1
Choose your total
Enter a public HTTPS website, choose its category and set a total from NZD $1 to NZD $100,000.
Example: List
https://yourbrand.co.nzin Retail with a NZD $250 total. - 2
Higher totals rank higher
Equal totals keep the order in which they were reached. A stable internal order resolves an exact tie.
Example: NZD $500 ranks above NZD $325. If two listings reach NZD $500, the one that got there first stays ahead.
- 3
Payment confirms the position
Rank changes after BrandBid verifies Stripe’s signed payment notification. A checkout alone reserves nothing.
Example: Starting a NZD $100 checkout does not move a listing until its payment has been verified.
- 4
Top up only the difference
Choose a higher total for the same website and pay only the difference from its verified total.
Example: Raise a verified NZD $250 listing to NZD $400 and the charge is NZD $150.
- 5
Being outbid moves you down
Your listing stays on the board at the position its total earns. Being outbid does not create a refund.
Example: If a NZD $550 listing passes your NZD $500 listing, yours moves below it and remains at NZD $500.

What you buy
A successful payment places or raises one eligible website on the public BrandBid leaderboard. It does not buy an endorsement, award, review, traffic level, lead volume, or search benefit.
How rank is calculated
- Higher verified cumulative totals rank above lower totals.
- At equal totals, the listing that reached that total first ranks higher.
- A stable internal order resolves an exact remaining tie.
- Paid listings rank above zero-value Founding Brand promotions.
Category leaderboards show paid listings in the same verified order, filtered by category. If a category has no paid listing, an active Founding Brand promotion may appear as its temporary leader.
Bids, top-ups and categories
Totals must be whole New Zealand dollars from $1 to $100,000. Anyone may pay to increase an existing listing; doing so does not transfer control of its content. A top-up charges only the positive difference from the current verified total.
A listing’s verified total belongs to its canonical URL and carries across categories. If that total already earns category rank #1 in a newly selected category, a paid, non-Founding listing can correct its category without another payment. Otherwise, a positive top-up is required.
When rank changes
Rank changes only after BrandBid receives and verifies a signed payment event from Stripe. A return page is not proof of payment, and an estimated rank can change before payment is verified.
Being outbid
Being outbid moves a listing down; it does not remove the listing or create a refund. The listing can be raised later by paying a further positive difference.
What may be listed
Destinations must be public HTTPS websites and comply with the acceptable-use policy. URL shorteners, unsafe redirects, malware, impersonation, illegal services, and other prohibited content are not accepted. Tracking parameters and fragments are removed from a website’s canonical identity.
Founding Brands and promotional placements
The first eligible brand to claim an available free spot in a category receives permanent Founding Brand recognition. Its promotional category-leader placement has a zero monetary total and ends after 30 days or when the category receives its first paid bid, whichever comes first. It is always identified as promotional, not as a verified bid.
Payments, refunds and reversals
Payments are one-time bids, not subscriptions. A refund or payment dispute reduces the verified total by the affected amount and rank is recalculated. A reversed dispute restores that amount. Every adjustment remains recorded in the financial ledger. Refund decisions are subject to the terms and applicable New Zealand law.
Moderation and removal
BrandBid may suspend or remove unsafe, unlawful, misleading, or prohibited listings. A removed listing is no longer ranked, but its financial records remain in the private ledger. Moderation does not itself decide whether a refund is due.
Traffic figures
A listing’s public visit count increases when its outbound BrandBid link is followed. It counts redirects, not unique people. Site-wide “online” and “visitors” figures come from DataFast, are separate from listing visits, and may be approximate, delayed, or unavailable.
